Amrita Yoga Center is affiliated with MA Center in California, where the spiritual teachings of Mata Amritanandamayi (affectionately known as Amma) are taught and practiced. We have satsang, Bhajans (devotional singing) study group on philosophy as taught by Amma. We teach the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique (IAM), which is recommended by Amma for developing inner peace. This technique is being practiced by thousands of people all over the world. Bhakti yoga and karma yoga are practiced at the Center. We offer hatha yoga and meditation classes for all levels. Special classes are offered for those with physical challenges. We also offer classes for seniors. Very soon we will be offering yoga, meditation, and relaxation for pre- and postnatal women. Instructors are Yoga Alliance-certified from E-RYT 500 to RYT 200. We have retreats that include hatha yoga, meditation, and Indian vegetarian cooking classes. Silent retreats for those who wish to deepen their spiritual practice. Individual counseling on yogic lifestyle, helping those wanting to make a change–develop a personal practice of yoga, meditation, philosophy, and vegetarian diet. Traditional hatha yoga teacher training will be offered in 2008, with emphasis on Amma’s teachings (based on Vedic philosophy). It is still under development. Initially we will offer the 200-hour program, and soon after the 500-hour. At the end of the training, teachers will have a strong grounding in yoga, as taught by the Rishis. Teachers will also have worked towards developing a strong spiritual practice of their own.
