Yoga Connection is a small downtown studio offering about 12 classes each week as well as private instruction and one or two retreats annually. Ana Franklin is the founder and director at Yoga Connection. Ana’s background in yoga is long, beginning with her parents who both studied yoga in India in the ’60s with T. Krishnamacharya and his son, Desikachar. She began her serious practice of yoga in the mid ’70’s and began to teach in 1982. Her studies have been with Gary Kraftsow, Sonia Nelson, and T.K.V. Desikachar. This year Ana’s student Debbie Newton has begun to teach two classes per week at the studio. She is a gentle teacher and is currently studying for a yoga teacher certification. We emphasize a gentle, meditative practice designed to relax and renew. Breathing techniques are emphasized and some chanting is used during asana practice as a way to increase lung capacity and also calm the mind. Classes are small allowing for individual attention.
