In today’s society, people focus so much on eating meat. Obviously, this excludes the vegans and vegetarians but it is important to bring this awareness to everyone. For the rest of us, we tend to over-eat meat products. If you think about it, every single meal of the day consists around a meat product. Bacon for breakfast, turkey for lunch, and steak for dinner. Imagine the time it takes for your body to digest all of that meat in just one day! How can we minimize our daily meat consumption?

It’s time to think back to our roots of the hunters and gatherers. Back in this time, meat was not so easy to come by. The main reason they would eat meat is because it takes a long time to digest. They would go days or weeks without eating meat again. Yes, our bodies need protein but for as long as meat takes to digest it is best to eat the minimal amount. It’s alright to enjoy a nice grass-fed steak and to treat yourself once in awhile. Trust me, your body will thank you in the long run if you minimize your daily meat intake.

Back in the gatherer’s time period, there were lush forests full of unpolluted vegetation. Gatherer’s would gather their veggies and they would eat them throughout the entire day. There was never a shortage of fresh vegetables and fruits. Vegetation was their main food source. They would base every meal around vegetables and fruits! They are easy to come by these days but are less preferred by most of the population. What if we treated vegetation they same way our ancestors did?

There are many recipes online (as most vegans and vegetarians know) that can make a meal taste meaty without any meat product at all! You don’t have to be a vegan or vegetarian to enjoy these delicious recipes! These recipes are a great way to base your meals around vegetables and fruits rather than meat. I promise, some of these vegan recipes you can find online will taste even better than your regular meaty meal. Your body will also benefit greatly from these gourmet meals!

Vegetables and fruits contain hundreds of different antioxidants and vitamins inside of them. Step aside protein, our bodies prefer to consume more antioxidants to kill free radicals and vitamins to keep us feeling young and healthy! You can also find protein you need in artichokes, potatoes, spinach, broccoli, beans….etc. So, now that there is no excuse to eating less meat products! It would be wise to start substituting as much as you can and limit your daily meat intake to once or twice a day. Embrace your vegetables and fruits to live a long and healthy life!
