When I moved to Los Angeles, California I learned the beauty of gardening. Being from Cleveland, Ohio there was opportunity to grow food during the summer. Ohio had perfect soil and during the summer you had the chance to harvest in the fall. In California you can farm food all year long! Since my move to the west coast, I have been growing all types of plants. I have a lemon tree, tomato, jalapeno, cilantro, basil, and lavender. Iβm addicted to gardening and expanding my collection out on my balcony. I have never been so into gardening in my entire life. My mother has the biggest green thumb Iβve ever known so Iβve always had an appreciation through her.
Gardening is something everyone should do at least once in their life. There is so much to learn from nature. While I watch my green lemons become bigger in size, I have learned the patience as I wait for them to turn yellow. Patience is one of the greatest talents a person can carry through life. When you learn to wait for life to sprout in front of you, you truly appreciate every waking moment. I also have learned the importance of a gentle touch. When I repot my plants I have learned to be extremely careful with the roots and buds. To learn these life lessons through nature I realized the same apply to me and my life.
I learn that I need to be patient with myself. When life becomes rushed, that is when stress begins to build. There is no reason to rush through life. There is no finish line with prizes and candy but there is a journey. The journey is meant to be appreciated through patience and gentle care. We are gentle creatures. We survive on love and self-care. We can learn from gardening and grounding ourselves back into the animals that we are. We coexist on this Earth with plants and animals. We are meant to work together with these plants and animals to create a perfect harmony of life! Take time to garden, to have patience, and to be gentle with your life. The best part is you get to enjoy the benefits of all of these things when you reap what you sow.
